Glorious sunshine and balmy temperatures greeted the six Worcester St John’s cycle club members who did battle on the in the 15.5 mile Welland Trophy LVRC/VTTA Time Trial.
There was an 8 to 10 mile wind and stray sheep hindered some of the riders on the first leg.
Honorary Worcester St John’s club member Marcus Walker did a two up with Echelon’s John Poole in 40:54.
The fastest Saints rider was Martin Lines with 37:03 which was a personal best for him on that course.
Rob Nicholls completed in 38:32 which was a very creditable ride since he suffered a crash in a road race last weekend.
Saint’s Simon Adcook beat his personal best by four minutes in 38:21 and Dave Walker did 39:07 which he was satisfied with especially when a pheasant walked into is front wheel and he did well to stay upright. Newcomer Mark Hand made an excellent effort at his debut on the Welland circuit.
