Coronavirus – Update 7th January 2021
All Club cycling activities, save riding locally with your household or with one other, is now suspended. We continue to follow the guidance of British Cycling, Cycling UK and other cycling bodies and will restart young rider activities as soon as we can do safely
Currently only Members receive information about future young rider events so to participate and be added to our e-mail list for Spring 2021, please join via our website and message me: firstname.lastname@example.org
Road Rides for 8 to 12s are usually about 10 – 15 miles on quiet country lanes. Usually any bike is fine. We also run from time to time a 12-15 year olds ride, either as a course designed to bridge from young rider to senior rider, or just a much faster and further ride for fun. These require group riding skills. Parents please use your own judgement as to whether your child is ready for the road, bearing in mind that Cycling UK says traffic awareness develops around the ages of 8 to 10. https://www.cyclinguk.org/article/cycling-guide/cycling-road-children
Our insurance is through Cycling UK. They stipulate that we can offer 3 club events to non-member guests. After this youth and adult riders need to be Members of WSJCC. Joining is simple – see our ‘about us’ page for all the membership categories and how to pay.
