Upcoming Rides & Events

The Club has a Facebook Group page which is a popular place for discussion of all things cycling, club announcements and events.

Not everyone is a Facebook user so we have now built in a Facebook Group page feed that you can see upcoming and past events.

Please note, only WSJCC Facebook member’s events will be displayed. There may be more events on our Facebook Group page, so where possible always check the official page here.

Défi Velo aka Bike Challenge on the 15th of June 2024

Défi Velo aka Bike Challenge on the 15th of June 2024

Jun 15, 7:00am

Save the date for the Défi Velo aka Bike Challenge on the 15th of June 2024.

Want to stretch yourself this year with an endurance challenge? Then join us on the 15th of June for the Défi Velo. This event is aimed at every type of rider in WSJCC, whether you are a Well Being potterer or a super-fast time trialist. It is all about setting yourself a challenge, we have four routes/distances to choose from, 100k, 100 miles, 200k and the ultimate 200k hilly route. The event will start and end from our base camp and the 100 mile and 200k (flatter route) routes will have a stop at base camp in case you need to drop down a distance.

Ride details

• All rides will start and end at base camp TBC.
• 100k, 100 mile and 200k (flatter route) will have a return to basecamp stop in case you feel you can’t do the whole distance. You will still achieve a milestone goal, for example 200k can drop down to 100 miles and 100 miles can drop down to 100k.
• Everyone will be grouped together dependent on distance and speed (and of course the people you regularly ride with).
• We encourage everyone to participate in training rides to build up your endurance.
• We are planning on having a broom wagon, so if the worst does happen, we have a plan B.
• We will have cake.
• We will have medals.

Logistics (these may change as planning progresses)

• 100 mile and 100k route will be based on 4 loops with all returning to base camp for breaks (following same process as WB100 last year).
• 200k will have a café stop and then return to base stop before final embark on 200k.
• 200k hilly, will follow an Audax route so all café stops and return to base at finish.

Please confirm your interest by clicking going or interested. More details will be shared later, we just need to confirm numbers for now.
