Coronavirus – Update 13 June 2020

We are following the guidance of British Cycling, Cycling UK and other cycling bodies in guiding the club’s re-starting of activities. This remains fairly limited at present and so our Friday evening Perdiswell Sessions for Young Riders continues to be on hold.

However evening road rides and other activities have now begun for Members  only. For more info on future events, and to be added to our e-mail list, message: paulsobczyk@hotmail.com.

Next Events: Bike Orienteering at Perdiswell July 10th 6.45.      Lenches Road Ride, Friday 17th July, 6.30.  Book through Paul.

Road Rides- Youth road rides are usually about 10 – 15 miles on quiet country lanes. Only for 8 year olds and over. Usually any bike is fine. Older children will have the opportunity for a faster sections where its safe to do so. Some rides will be for older children only. Parents please use your own judgement as to whether your child is ready for the road, bearing in mind that Cycling UK says traffic awareness develops around the ages of 8 to 10. https://www.cyclinguk.org/article/cycling-guide/cycling-road-children

 

 

 

Young Riders Awards

There are bronze, silver and gold standards to achieve. You can start any age though for most bronze will be achievable at about 7- 9 and silver 9 to 13. Members need to register with Paul to receive their record cards. WSJCC- Young Riders Training Awards v1

Joining WSJCC

Our insurance is through Cycling UK. They stipulate that we can offer 3 club events to non-member guests. After this youth and adult riders need to be Members of WSJCC. Joining is simple – see our ‘about us’ page for all the membership categories and how to pay.
