About Cyclo-Cross:

Each Autumn the West Midlands CycloCross League runs a series of cyclocross races across the region hosted by local cycling clubs like ours. These are great family fun events and anyone can enter from the youngest of kids to the oldest of seniors. There are lots of age categories from under 6 upwards. Each race is for a set time period for each category – eg 40 minutes for over 50’s. You try to complete as many circuits as you can in the time allowed – so if you’re worried about being the slowest, fear not, as once the finishing bell goes everyone is on their last lap!

Any bike is ok as long as it is wide tyred. Best tip is to give yourself lots of time to arrive, register, practise and warm up.

For advance on-line entry you will need to set up a RiderHQ account. You can enter all the races here, including other family riders.  If you are not already a WSJCC member, do join us and our friendly race team – much more fun! Be sure to get a club shirt which we can loan and enter as a Worcester St Johns CC rider. See the League website for fees, membership prices and benefits.

Entry on-the-day is a fall back for those who miss the online deadlines – £5 / £2 premium. You will also need to enter your British Cycling membership if you have one, otherwise its a one day BC fee for £5 (adults) payable at registration  – usually in cash. Some events have a parking fee. 

Registering for the league allows riders to accumulate League points and to appear in WMCCL competition tables based on their sex and age. It also gives riders a discount on race entry fee. Register at least one week before the start of the first race of the season by visiting the home page of the WMCCL website and look for the link in the text.

Dates for the 2026 are most Sundays September to December. The WSJCC home round is at Lakeside Campus, aka Top Barn, October 25th 2026.
